No one said slavery was a choice in Colonial America or the Antebellum South. What Kanye was talking about is slavery of the mind — the notion that descendants of slaves must remain mentally enslaved in the figurative sense some 150 years after the abolition of slavery.
Kanye doesn't give me the vibe that he's very smart, but I hope he realizes that buying his merchandise and seeing him perform is a choice.
real talk from enlightened youth, best of luck with launching the podcast
Everyone needs to hear this episode! Thank you! The Benjamin Dixon Show 21 and 24 damn. Keep up the good work.
The guy is an imbecile and his music is shit
Best assessment on this Kanye Mess that I have heard
This was a great conversation on so many different levels. Thought the discussion about 'black misleaders' was particularly insightful. As a white hip hop fan that made me reflect a great deal on how I might have idolised certain artists and for what reasons. I also agree 'delusions of grandeur' is the key phrase when talking about Kanye. Subscribed :)
loved your guests Ben, this episode was on fire!
That guy Ben Dixon put on was way off on Tariq Nasheed & Dr. Francis Cress Welsing... Just compare their stuff to casual observations and you will find their stuff to be 95% correct... #smokehimout
it's one thing for you to call yourself a conservative because I know plenty of black people that think like myself I'm a conservative with a libertarian leaning it's okay for you to be a black person be a conservative but this comment that he made about slavery is an insult that was not a choice our ancestors were forced to the Americas starting with the Caribbean and when they brought the black slaves from West Africa to the Caribbean back in the 1500s with the Spanish and a whole bunch of other historical black people would disagree with him I'm going to give you guys a list Harriet Tubman Nat Turner Queen nanny who led the Maroons to Freedom in Jamaica all these people fought against slavery so that tells you slavery wasn't good I thought this was a PR stunt that Kanye was pulling just to sell his music but if he really thinks this way he may need some help guys instead of bashing him make sure to tell him that he can get the help that he needs because this is crazy the fact of the matter is black people suffered during that time. And we were considered less than human and we had to fight hard to get our freedom and we have to mention the Abolitionist who also helped free black slaves and John Brown who fought against slavery as well
Thank you for the podcast, miss seeing your show on Content but looking forward to your new show once you have everything set up
Hey Kanye, like James Brown said, you're TALKIN LOUD AND SAYIN NOTHIN!!!
Just got to the end. These guys are fucking ON IT. get the podcast done. Get on the majority report...talk about the cult of celebrity. That would make a great episode.
I always believed Kanye was a phony . Does anyone else find this whole thing "strange" that he would say all these things right when his new cd drops . Can you say coonin fo cash !
why are we talking about this brother Kanye and HIS issues? Coonn Benjamin needs to focus on your OWN BUCKDANCN.... glass houses
It’s damn shame when people go on about free exchange of ideas because if that’s the case these three brothers should have their own communication empire!
These dudes rocked it. Great conversation. Get the podcast together and let us know!
Great commentary, these young brothers are so intelligent and thoughtful.
This was great, hope you can get you friends to join in again.
Let this happen. Do not try to shut it down. Whether Kanye West set out to do it or not but he has given all the so called "conservative blacks" a face and voice to coalesce around. They have always been around. I can go back to C.O.R.E. in the 60's-70's. They have been broken up and scattered since the 80's. Now they sense with Kanye he may be the face behind their movement. They have something to say thats been bottled up for a long time. Let them talk but take names and photos also. LOL
Great show as always, looking forward to that podcast as well
